Hercules Pitts to talk about the future of our Golf
Course at Trinity Church, Feb 17, 2011 from 7:00pm - 9:00pm
District 6 has suffered a mighty blow with the arrest and stripping of duties of Leslie Johnson. Our community is on the decline, and it was our hope that Councilwoman Johnson would be our go-to person to help us turn that around. Unfortunately, it appears that will not happen.
Sandra Pruitt of People for Change Coalition and residents of Lake Arbor stand shoulder to shoulder with the residents of Upper Marlboro on this issue. We believe the biggest threat to the deterioration of our communities is the two failed golf courses within. It is a well known fact that Hercules Pitts, the owner, has fallen on hard times and is limited as to what he can do without help. Therefore, we have invited Mr. Pitts to share with us his plans, needs and vision for the future of the golf courses. He will make a presentation and be available for questions and answers at the TRINITY EPISCOPAL CHURCH, 14515 Church Street Upper Marlborough MD 20073, on February 17, 2011, 7:00 to 9:00 pm. Please join us to hear this presentation, ask questions.
If the golf courses can’t be restored, the alternatives are pretty grim. The further decline of the courses and the possibility that the land will fall into the hands of developers are objectionable outcomes. Placing apartment buildings, condos, town and single family homes on the land will negatively affect our quality of life, the value of our homes as well as overcrowd our communities.
If we find Mr. Pitts' presentation feasible we may find a way to help him, or at least encourage our government officials to do so. The people of the Villages and Lake Arbor are focusing on the problems in our community, and we are committed to making corrections. However, the problems with the golf courses are beyond our abilities fix, without help.
We have asked State, County and Council officials to attend this gathering. Together we may be able to determine the best course of action to stabilize our communities so we can more forward. Your attendance will insure that this matter will not be ignored.
Sincerely,
Robert Bowers
