New Clues in Double Homocide of Mother and Daughter

New Clues In Prince George's County Double Homicides

http://www.wusa9.com/news/breaking/story.aspx?storyid=83013&catid=158
LARGO, Md. (WUSA) -- Prince George's County police have at least two new clues about the timeline leading up to the double murders of mother-daughter victims Delores and Ebony Dewitt early Monday, March 16th.

But investigators from the task force set up to solve the killings admit there is nothing solid enough to identify suspects or prove their theory that the killings may be linked to another mother-daughter double murder that happened in the same Largo neighborhood in January.

"We don't have any evidence that this is a serial killer," said Maj. Andrew Ellis Wednesday. In fact Ellis told 9 News now that while the Loftons were shot to death, the DeWitts were not and "this is not typical of serial killings." "
However, the coincidences between these cases is "uncanny" Ellis added. Those coincidences: both mothers were nurses, both daughters were teens, the victims lived in the same neighhborhood, all victims were killed in the early hours of a Monday, burglary appears to be a theme that runs in both double murders.

Ellis revealed that a witness saw one of the DeWitt victims entering her home on Cedarhollow Lane. in the early hours of Sunday morning, more than 24 hours before the women were found dead in a burning stolen Nissan parked in front of an abandoned home on nearby Webbwood Ct. before dawn Monday.

Investigators say the victim of the auto theft also lives in the area, and saw her car being driven away just nine mintures before another 911 call alerted police that the car was on fire at another address.

The bodies of 42-year-old Delores Renee Dewitt and her 19-year-old daughter Ebony Dewitt were discovered in the burned out stolen Nissan Maxima Monday, March 16, at approximately 3:48 a.m. when officers were called to the 11110 block of Webbwood Court for a vehicle fire.
When officers arrived, they found Delores and Ebony Dewitt dead inside a stolen Nissan Maxima. One victim was in the back seat, the other in the trunk. The car had been stolen from a nearby Largo home.

In the early morning hours of January 26th, another mother and daughter were found murdered in their home. Those victims were identified as 46-year-old Karen Lofton and her 16-year-old daughter Karissa Lofton. The teenager had called police to say they had been shot. By the time officers arrived, both women had died. Their Largo home showed signs of burglary.

Anyone with information about these cases is asked to call the Prince George's County Police Department's Homicide Unit at (301) 772-4925. A total of $50,000 dollars reward is being offered.
