Vehicular Manslaughter Bill

I want to bring to your attention an upcoming bill - HB 363 that involves punishment for vehicular manslaughter when someone is negligent.    See what Bike Maryland says about this bill.   We need your help to move this bill out of committee.  It will be heard by the House Judiciary Committee in Annapolis on Wednesday, February 23rd.

February 23, 2011 at 1:00pm  - HB 363 - Manslaughter by Vehicle or Vessel Criminal Negligence
House Office Building, Room 100
6 Bladen Street
Annapolis, MD  21401
(Please note, you can give oral or written testimony.  If you are testifying, please arrive by 12:00Noon to sign up.)

Kenniss Henry, Natasha's Mom has been lobbying our legislators in Annapolis to bring attention to how loosely our laws deal with vehicular manslaughter.

On September 19, 2010 at 5:30am, Natasha Pettigrew was struck by a vehicle and the driver not only left the scene of the accident but left with Natasha's bike lodged under the grill of her car.   A day later, Natasha passed away.   What might have happened differently if the person did not leave the scene.   I have attached the e-mail below about Natasha.

I plan to testify in support of this bill and if you can support us that would be great!

Thank you,
